Applications for the APL MESA College Prep Program are now available and are due April 1, 2012.

The APL MESA College Prep Program will provide mentorship and prepare you to succeed in college. You will learn how to pay for college, study for the SAT test, and develop a list of potential colleges. You will complete college applications and essays, learn how to overcome challenges, develop professional skills, and have fun!

We will also teach you about different Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers, and will host guest speakers to share the paths they took to become successful. We will also visit area colleges! Please fill out the short application and return it no later than April 1, 2012.

Program Information: All high school students are eligible and invited to submit an application to be part of the College Prep Program. We especially encourage applications from students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year college, students from low-income backgrounds, students who are underrepresented in STEM fields, students interested in STEM careers, and/or students in need of mentoring or advice about the college application process.

Classes will be held on Saturdays from 8:45am-4:30pm, beginning May 12th and ending August 18th, 2012.

CPP is offered through Maryland MESA and is taught at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. The application is attached to this message, and is also available on the Maryland MESA website.

Program Cost: The program costs $50 per student. Students who are eligible for the free or reduced lunch program will automatically be granted a full scholarship. If you cannot afford the program due to other circumstances, please contact Will Gray at will.collegeprep@gmail.com.

2012 Nordstrom Scholarship Program
Applications for the 2012 Nordstrom Scholarship Program are available beginning TODAY for deserving high school juniors. The company will award eighty (80) college scholarships in the amount of $10,000 each to students in states where Nordstrom has a store. The IT ELITE Seminar

Participants will work with current P&G employees and senior managers to develop recommendations on a real Information & Decision Solutions (IDS) project within P&G. We are looking for students pursuing a BS or MS in BIS, MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Math/Statistics. Dates: July 29 – Aug. 3, 2012

TETRE Engineering Program (for Full time ONLY)

This week long learning experience will give you a chance to learn how we develop new products and manufacturing systems for the world’s consumers. You will visit a pilot plant and see Manufacturing and Engineering managers on the job, and see how you might fit into a job at P&G. Participants must be seeking a Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechatronics, have experience or interest in Automation/Control Systems Engineering, and graduate between December 2012 and June 2013. Dates: Week of August 13th, 2012.
